Acts of Kindness

It is the morning before Christmas and this whole house is stirring! It is the best Christmas of all since everyone is home and healthy. We never took that for granted but it has extra special meaning this year.

Following are multiple acts of incredible kindness, friendship and support that helped us through this year....this is just a few as there are dozens more that aren't listed:
  • All family members dropping everything on the May 12th weekend and rushing to the hospital to support Nick and find out what they could do.
  • Thanks to Fr. Arnold and the hundreds and hundreds of people for showing up at the prayer service for Nick just before treatment started. It was awesome!
  • Greg & Lynda for initially setting up this blog.
  • All Broz's and Lynch's for working together to share kid duty, chores, NY Trips, etc. It goes on and on.
  • To Bubble & Kim and both sets of Grandparents for spending many nights at our house so Carolyn and I could both be in NY.
  • To Mikey the Little League guy who has a long list of cancer credentials that I had no idea about. I just thought he was another coach but he is something else!!! and he helped us tremendously...THANKS MIKE!
  • To the many many doctors that came forward through our association with the Church and Little League who provided comfort, advice and peace of mind.
  • How bout the Irish neighbor who always has the right medicine!
  • Dr. Kushner and the NB Oncology Staff at MSKCC!!!
  • Dr. LaQuaglia who flawlessly removed the tumor!!
  • To the many visitors who sat with us, cried with us, and helped us pass the time while in NY.
  • How bout the Irish Pedicab driver who took Nick and I on a 2 hour tour of NY and didn't want a nickle.
  • The head waiter at Wollensky's Grill who fed Nick and I very well at about midnight after a late flight into NY .... when I asked for the check....he said....I know what you are doing and this one is on us!! Wow.
  • All the people who watered the flowers and helped keep our yard in shape.
  • To our next door neighbors who made sure that Kenny's papers got delivered while we were in NY....THANKS JEFF!
  • To my friend Jerry who did countless handyman type chores around the house! Including helping the Broz's move furniture so they could install new carpet throughout the house.
  • To my dad who came out to NY a several times to visit but one time in particular was a huge help as Nick was at the absolute lowest point in his treatment. Nick had to be admitted and then Carolyn and Aunt Linda came in. It was the the most difficult two weeks of the process.
  • Henry the Escalade Driver who would pick us up and take us to the hospital for free when he wasn't busy.
  • Dennis the Raider Fan doorman who made sure papers were delivered every morning and and always had a big high five ready for Nick as we left for the PDH.
  • Delta Pilots who let Nick take a picture in the cockpit.
  • Friends in GB that offered us private flights if needed....we just have to call...it is an incredible feeling to know you have friends like that.
  • There was a skycap at LaGuardia Airport that remembered us several weeks later and came running up and handed us a very nice hand written note showing support for Nick. It was especially moving because he probably sees a few folks coming and going at LGA over a several week span.
  • The countless meals that were delivered to the house while we were in NY.
  • The countless well wishes, emails, etc.
  • Big Tom in upstate NY for having us all over for a BBQ and fireworks on the 4th of July!
  • To all my colleagues at work who have been absolutely spectacular!
  • Robin from Cal Poly who now lives in CT and has offered a homemade Italian meal!
  • The Little League board for being excellent and doing my jobs while away.
  • Like the Journey song....It goes on and on and on and on.....Thanks Everyone and Merry Christmas!
