What A Year!

I know it is not over yet but we can't wait to turn the page on 2006 and start 2007. To say it was a roller coaster year of ups and downs is certainly valid. The year started with an excellent New Years day feast of Crown Pork Roast and Nicks birthday party at the skating rink. We had no idea what we were about to experience beginning on May 12th.

The following picture, as miserable as it is ... was really the turning point in the whole process. We learned that the tumor had been completely removed and that Nick would recover in about 5-10 days. The treatments he is continuing to endure since the surgery have all been difficult but we continue to receive nothing but good news since then.

Nick is almost a year older and has been through a lot. He started the treatments in May weighing 88 pounds. When he came home for Halloween, he weighed only 63 pounds. Now, he is up to 73 and is on his way back. Treatments continue until at least April for the Accutane and until he builds Resistance (HAMA) to the antibody.

Below is the first picture he would allow without his hat.

We leave on December 29th for New Years in New York City and Nick's Birthday. He starts treatments on Jan 2nd and then has tests the following week. We are expecting another result of NED!! Then we could be home for up to 8 weeks but we won't really find out until we meet with the doctors and they know the test results.

Merry Christmas everyone! and thanks for reading this blog and for keeping up with Nick's progress. Carolyn and I really appreciate all your help and support during this ordeal.
