Hi Everyone. It’s 10:40 p.m. and I’m just ending one part of my day and beginning another. Now is when I catch up on work. So today… -

We had to solve the issue of how to deal with the fact that we were anticipating picking up 8 pallets of supplies and instead were greeted with 14. My mother and two of her friends drove an 18’ truck from Pennsylvania to Brooklyn to bring our cookie shipping supplies. The truck they were driving was donated to them to use so that we could have one less expense. After several phone calls and some anxious moments, we decided to rent a second truck for the balance of the load. After a few more tense moments, the supply company called to tell us they’d ship the balance to use at NO COST (a several hundred dollar saving) and get it us by Thursday. OK. Another roadblock cleared.-

Met my mother and her two friends in Brooklyn, about a 30 minute train ride away, to unload the 8 pallets of product and transfer them to a 17’ truck that we’re renting to use as a temporary storage facility. Shirley Staples, my mother, dear friend Colleen (who without this cookie thing wouldn't happen), and two of my mother’s friends formed a line to transfer shipping boxes, interior gift boxes, 40 lb boxes of paper shreds, ribbon, perishable sticker labels, twist ties, and a few other things to our new temporary storage facility in a parking lot in Brooklyn.-

Met our UPS delivery guy on the street…he started to tear up when he heard what we were doing and promised that UPS was totally behind our effort. -

Went back to work for a few hours.- At 6 p.m. went back to the kitchen hauling a 30 lb box of cookie dough on the subway train to do a baking test run with the director of pastry arts from the French Culinary Institute and another friend who is the food editor of Country Living Magazine. The cookies were AWESOME!-

Left the kitchen around 9:30 p.m.- Got home around 10:30 p.m. to catch up on my day job.

Fighting Cancer With Cookies For the Holidays

A gift of cookies can help kids fight cancer.Parents of children who suffer from a deadly childhood disease called neuroblastoma have formed the nonprofit foundation Band of Parents ( http://www.bandofparents.org/) to help fight the disease. The plan: Bake, sell and ship 96,000 citrus shortbread, chocolate chip oatmeal and snickerdoodle cookies between Dec. 2 and Dec. 16. Nearly all of the proceeds from the holiday fundraiser will support children's cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.The freshly baked cookies are being made using recipes from the recently published cookbook "Recipe of the Week: Cookies," by Sally Sampson, who also will be baking some of them. Order until Dec. 15 at http://www.cookiesforkidscancer.org/. The cost is $30 per dozen, plus shipping charges; an enclosed card will explain the significance of the cookie gift.

Great Thanksgiving

Nick and all of us had a great Thanksgiving holiday.

We rode quads at the Pismo Beach Dunes early in the week and then feasted at my moms house on Thanksgiving Day. Yesterday, Nick went fishing with Kenny and Leanna and Leanna's boyfriend and his dad. They caught some nice sized trout that came home cleaned and ready to grill. A few more weeks of school and before you know it, the kids will be off for the holidays.

Band of Parents - Update

The http://www.bandofparents.org/ are moving forward in high gear. Friends of Nick Lynch have already contributed nearly $1500 to the cause and we haven't really started the push yet. Add that to the fantastic bake sale at Nick's school and other contributions to the Lonliest Road Campaign and we are well over $5,000. To contribute just write a check to Band of Parents and put Nick Lynch in the memo line. Mail it to me at 5006 Tiffany Point - Granite Bay, CA 95746.

Here is what is happening next:

• I will start emailing and contacting people to ask for money. This is not my favorite thing to do but this is a cause that I really know will save kids. We are now part of a nationwide effort to help Dr. Cheung and MSKCC invent HU-3f8.
