Band Of Parents Update

Hello Nick Lynch Fans!!

First of all, Nick is doing great! He wakes up on fire for school each morning and to see his buddies. He is onry as ever and never lets Kenny get away with anything. He is also the sweetest guy you ever met saying I love mom, I love you dad, and then heading out the door to start his mischief. We couldn't be happier with his progress right now. So far, the only issue he has is with his hearing but he now wears his hearing aids each day and they solve the problem.

Now, for the BOP. The Nick Lynch event on February 23rd is moving towards a sellout. We are at about 125 right now and probably need to cap it at 175 or we won't be able to move in the room. Negotiations are complete with Lawrence's band so they will be playing. Sorry to the neighbors who must endure the practice sessions over the next few weeks.

I am now a board member of the BOP and am up to date on all the activities and developments at MSKCC. It is a fantastic group that is "Bound by Hope" to find a cure for this nasty disease. All board members have a child in various stages of NB treatment so it is a very moving experience to be a part of it. Please keep up with us by following http://www.bandofparents.org/ on a regular basis.

If you haven't reserved your tickets for the February 23rd event at Granite Bay Golf Club, please email me at Kennethj.Lynch@gmail.com and let me know how many you want.

Thanks to everyone who has made cash donations and/or have donated auction items. We will recognize you all here and in the program at the event.

NED - This Just In!!!!!!!!!!

About 30 minutes ago I received an email from Dr. Kramer that all tests were NED. Whew!! It is always a relief to hear that. I must admit that I was stressing over the Urine Test wondering if some marker was elevated or not....they took way longer than normal to get back to us.

The Nick Lynch celebration and party and .... yes...Fundraiser...is all set and it is going to rock. Thanks to all who have already responded to me. I think we will sell this thing out!!! People have gone out of their way to make this happen and you won't believe some of the auction items and the wine donations, etc. Please tell your friends and neighbors about the event. We are nearly half sold out and we still have more email lists to send to.

Way to go NICK!!!!!!!!!

Test Results

Hello Nick Lynch Fans:

4 out of 5 tests are in and they are NED!!!!

We are sure the 5th one is also NED but it is not in yet. So, we are still a little nerve wracked over it and are looking forward to Friday when they tell us it will be back.

The Nick Lynch Celebration and Fund Raiser to benefit www.bandofparents.org on February 23rd is ready to rock and you will be seeing the latest information right here.

Smooth Sailing

Day two of testing was smooth sailing. We were completely finished by noon and Nick felt well enough to fly home tonight. Thankfully, my dad met us out here so he and Nick are flying home on the late night Jet Blue non-stop to Sac Town. I hope the fog allows it to land at SMF and not divert to Oakland. I have business here tomorrow so I will be on the same flight tomorrow night.

We expect the tests to be NED but we won't know until we know.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once I get that NED notice I will be making a big push for the February fundraiser. Here is some basic information.

  • The event will be Saturday, February 23rd in the "Conservatory" at Granite Bay Golf Club.
  • 100% of the proceeds benefit the http://www.bandofparents.org/ and the tickets are 100% tax deductible since I am funding the dinner and therefore you will not be receiving any goods or services from the BOP...but double check with your friendly accountant.
  • The event starts at 6:30 with no-host cocktails and includes dinner, live music from Lawrence's band, dancing and a silent auction. It is for a serious cause but I guarantee you it will be fun!!
  • I will give a short speech on the progress of the BOP to date along with a short PowerPoint presentation.
  • All you need to do to "buy tickets" is email me at KennethJ.Lynch@gmail.com and say you are 'IN' for the dinner. Let me know how many tickets you need.
  • The cost is $75 each and I will reply with how and where to send the money sometime before the dinner.
Please forward the above bullet points to anyone you know who may be interested in attending this event. The club holds 220 people and we are hoping to sell it out!

NYC Update

Happy New Year!!

We are in New York and dealing with the 5 tests. (Urine, Blood, CT Scan, MIBG Scan, Bone Marrow). It is cold here but not as cold as it could be for this time of year. MSKCC is a harsh dose of reality. Everyone here has cancer and there are a lot of people here. Seeing all the kids that are just starting out or right in the middle of their treatment is really tough to deal with.....CANCER SUCKS!

Another strange feeling is as we walk in ....we know just about everyone .....and they all come up and hug Nick and me like we are the lucky ones....and we are. We are happy to give the hugs back but it is a weird feeling nonetheless. Fortunately, Nick forgets about that when we are home with our great family and friends. He just carries on like nothing happened. One of the nurse practitioners that I really like ....they are all excellent but I like this one more than the others was asking all the loaded questions to Nick and I couldn't help myself and said...you already asked me if everything was going well and I said YES and now you are quizzing Nick. She was ready for that and said...that is what we do....we need to make sure he doesn't have any symptoms and he doesn't. This process drives me crazy each time. I am sure he is fine but until Kushner sends me an email we must stress out. Y'all know how easy going I am!!

The bottom line is that everything went smooth and we are hoping for the same today. I'll update again after today's tests and once I know the results.
